If you’ve ever wondered why Earthy Crunch can sometimes be suspiciously quiet at the end of the month, there’s a very unglamorous reason.
Sadly, I’m not permanently on holiday.
As much as I’d love to spend my days photographing clay, packing orders and arguing with myself about which crunch is the crunchiest, Earthy Crunch is still a one-person business that I run alongside a full-time job.
And the last week of each month is usually the absolute chaos zone.
My day job tends to get particularly busy around month-end, which means longer days, more deadlines and, rather annoyingly, quite a lot of travelling. Some weeks I’m barely in one place long enough to remember where I left my charger.
That can have a knock-on effect on Earthy Crunch.
What does that mean for your order?
Most of the time, orders are packed and dispatched according to the usual schedule. But during those particularly manic end-of-month weeks, there may occasionally be a little extra time between placing your order and it heading out the door.
It doesn't mean your order has been forgotten.
It doesn't mean I've disappeared to a beach somewhere.
And it definitely doesn't mean I've decided to abandon you all and become a full-time clay goblin.
It usually means I'm trying to squeeze Earthy Crunch around a very busy week of work and travel.
I’d rather be upfront about that than promise lightning-fast dispatch every single week and then disappoint you when real life inevitably gets in the way.
But this week is a good week to order 👀
There is, however, some good news.
This week I’ll be making deliveries almost every day.
So if you've been eyeing something up, now is actually a very good time to get your order in. I’ll be packing and getting orders out as frequently as I can throughout the week.
Basically, the month-end chaos hasn't quite caught me yet.
So get your orders in!
Future me, stuck travelling around with a laptop and wondering when I last saw my own sofa, will thank you.
Why I’m telling you this
I know waiting for an order can be frustrating, particularly when you’re excited to try something new. I also know that most of you are incredibly understanding when I explain what’s going on, which I genuinely appreciate.
So consider this your official end-of-month heads-up:
The final week of each month may be a little slower than usual.
If you’re ordering around that time, please allow a little extra wiggle room for processing and dispatch.
I’ll still get your order packed, checked and on its way as soon as I can. I just can't always make the Earthy Crunch calendar bend to my work calendar. Believe me, I’ve tried.
A small business, run around real life
One of the slightly strange things about running a small business alongside a full-time job is that there isn't a giant warehouse team quietly working behind the scenes.
There’s me.
Me packing your orders.
Me answering messages.
Me checking stock.
Me photographing new clays.
Me updating the website.
Me making questionable decisions about how much clay I absolutely need to buy.
And then there's the other job, which unfortunately insists on having meetings and deadlines and things.
So while I always aim to get your orders out as quickly as possible, there will occasionally be weeks where the balance tips a little more towards the day job.
Thank you for bearing with me when it does.
And if you've placed an order during one of those chaotic weeks, thank you for your patience. I promise your clay hasn't been forgotten. It's just waiting its turn while I attempt to keep all the plates spinning.

If you need your order by a particular date, especially towards the end of the month, please take the potential processing delay into account when ordering.
