There’s something a bit dangerous about placing a big order when you’re in a “let’s try everything” mood. Curiosity takes over, textures start sounding like personalities, and suddenly your checkout basket looks like a very earthy dream you half remember building at 2am.
Recently, I placed a pretty substantial personal order from Yummy Clays. The intention was simple enough: expand my own stash, explore a wider range of textures, and get a proper feel for a few varieties I hadn’t tried before. Part research, part curiosity, part that quiet collector instinct that kicks in when you’ve spent too long around clay.
Most of it? Genuinely interesting. Some pieces had that deep, satisfying density I was hoping for, others leaned lighter and more crumbly than expected, and a few surprised me in ways I didn’t quite anticipate.
And that’s really where things get honest.
Not everything in a large order will become a favourite. Texture preference is incredibly personal, and what feels perfect for one person can feel completely “not quite it” for someone else. In this case, there were a few items that simply didn’t match what I personally enjoy in my own stash rotation. Nothing wrong with them as products, just not ones I find myself reaching for.
Rather than letting them sit untouched, I’ve decided to make them available here as part of my personal stash clearance.
This means you get the chance to try pieces that have been carefully stored and selected, without needing to commit to full original quantities yourself. Think of it as a way to explore different textures at a lower commitment level, especially if you’re still figuring out what styles you enjoy most.
Everything has been handled and stored with care, and I’ll always be transparent about what came from my own collection so there are no surprises. This isn’t about bulk resale or passing things on blindly — it’s about sharing the bits that didn’t quite fit my personal preference but may absolutely suit someone else’s.
If anything, it’s a reminder that “perfect” in this space is always subjective. One person’s “too soft” is another person’s “exactly right”. One person’s “not enough bite” is someone else’s ideal texture moment.
So rather than letting them stay tucked away in a box, I’m offering them out for others to experience, test, and enjoy in their own way.
Because in the end, a good stash is never really about keeping everything — it’s about finding what actually deserves to be there.
I also realise I am such a Terracotta girlie. I've got a real thing for their Buff Buttons and Indian Peanuts. YUM!
