Why Earthy Crunch UK doesn’t run sales (and what we do instead)

If you’ve ever wondered why you won’t find January Sales, Black Friday banners, Prime Week countdowns or Boxing Day blowouts here, the answer is simple:

I don’t believe in them.

Sales, as they exist today, were largely invented to encourage more consumption — buying things you don’t actually need simply because they’re cheaper right now. The pressure, the urgency, the “last chance” language… it’s loud, stressful, and often disconnected from genuine value.

That just doesn’t sit comfortably with what Earthy Crunch UK is about.

This is a hobby business — and that matters

Earthy Crunch UK is a small, hobby-based business. I don’t take a salary from it. It doesn’t replace my full-time career (and won’t be any time soon). Rising costs — from sourcing and shipping to packaging and postage — mean this isn’t a particularly profitable venture, and that’s okay.

This space exists because I enjoy it. Because I care about texture, flavour, ritual, and the sensory joy these products bring. Not because I want to chase volume or compete in a race to the bottom on price.

Running constant sales would mean inflating prices just to slash them later — and I’d rather keep pricing honest from the start.

No fake urgency, no shopping guilt

You won’t see:

  • “Ends tonight” countdowns

  • Panic-fuelled discount events

  • Seasonal sales just because everyone else is doing one

No January Sales. No Black Friday. Definitely no Prime-anything.

I’d much rather you buy something because you genuinely want it — not because a discount timer made you feel like you should.

So… what do we do instead?

While I don’t believe in traditional sales culture, I do believe in generosity, freshness, and rewarding loyalty.

Here’s how that shows up at Earthy Crunch UK:

Occasional clear-downs for a good reason

I strongly prefer freshly made treats. When older stock needs clearing to make space for new batches, I’ll run quiet, occasional reductions — not as a marketing stunt, but as a practical reset. These aren’t scheduled, hyped, or seasonal. They just… happen.

If you catch one, great. If you don’t, that’s okay too.

Free samples and gifts — always

Every order includes free samples or extras. Always.

If you leave a note with your order — especially a flavour profile or texture preference rather than a specific item — I’ll genuinely try to match it. Smoky? Chalky? Damp earth? Basement vibes? Say the word.

This is one of my favourite parts of packing orders, and it’s something no flash sale can replace.

Loyalty is actually rewarded

My most loyal customers regularly receive money-off rewards or little thank-yous. Not because they chased discounts — but because they showed up, supported the shop, and became part of the community.

No shouting. No hoops. Just appreciation.

Points on every purchase

Every order placed through the website earns reward points. They’re yours — feel free to spend them. Save them up or use them straight away. No guilt, no expiry pressure.

Mystery mix-ups: grab a spoon and explore

One of my favourite ways to clear space and have a bit of fun is through our mystery mix-ups.

These are heavily discounted bundles that let you grab a spoon and dig into a surprise selection of random treats — clay pieces, powders, crumbs, shards, and bits that don’t always make it into standard listings but are far too good to waste.

They’re perfect if you:

  • enjoy variety and surprise

  • like sampling different textures and flavour profiles

  • aren’t precious about shapes being “perfect”

  • want maximum crunch and curiosity for a massive discount

Think of them as a sensory pick ’n’ mix rather than a polished product. No two are ever the same, and that’s very much the point.

Mystery mix-ups aren’t always available and aren’t tied to sales events — they appear when stock levels, batches, and timing align. When they’re gone, they’re gone… until the next one.

A quieter, slower way of doing things

Earthy Crunch UK isn’t here to maximise baskets or push impulse buying. It’s here to offer thoughtful, sensory products, packed with care, at fair prices — without the noise.

If that means fewer sales but better experiences, I’m more than happy with that trade-off.

Thank you for supporting a small hobby business that chooses calm over chaos, and substance over spectacle.
