I wanted to take a moment to explain why I made this change, what it means for you, and how it actually helps me keep Earthy Crunch UK sustainable and transparent, without compromising on the crunch you're here for.
One clay doesn't fit all
Two clays might look similar on the surface but be completely different behind the scenes. Some pieces are harder to source, more labour intensive to prepare, heavier and therefore more expensive to ship, rarer or seasonal, or slower to process safely and consistently.
A flatter pricing structure never really reflected this. Tiered pricing lets me price based on effort, scarcity and handling, rather than forcing everything into the same bracket. In short, it's about accuracy, not inflation.
Fair pricing, not fast pricing
Earthy Crunch UK is intentionally small and hobby based. I'm not bulk importing container loads or cutting corners to push prices down. Many of my clays come from traditional vendors, often in small batches, and need careful preparation before they reach your stash.
Tiered pricing helps me pay vendors fairly, absorb rising postage and packaging costs, keep using plastic free and eco conscious materials, and avoid sudden across the board price hikes. Instead of everything creeping up quietly, the tiers make the reasoning visible.
More choice, more clarity
With tiers, you'll see options that suit different cravings and different budgets: more accessible everyday crunches, premium or rare pieces clearly labelled, and better expectations before checkout. You can decide whether you fancy a simple soil forward crunch or a deeper, smokier, higher effort piece, without wondering why one costs more than another.
Respecting where these clays come from
Many edible clays come from long standing traditions, particularly in India and other regions where clay consumption has deep cultural roots. Tiered pricing lets me reflect the true cost of sourcing these respectfully, rather than undervaluing materials that deserve care and context. Cheap doesn't always mean ethical, and I won't pretend otherwise.
What hasn't changed
Just to be clear: the clays haven't suddenly become "luxury" for the sake of it, I'm not inflating prices because something is trending, and I'm not moving away from accessibility. What has changed is that my pricing now tells a more honest story.
Tiered pricing lets me price fairly, source responsibly, stay small and sustainable, offer clearer choice, and keep delivering the textures and crunch profiles you actually care about.
