Details
“The same classic loess base, given a deeper, roasted edge from baking.”
Chinese Baked Loess takes the same fine-grained loess base as Chinese Original Loess a step further: small, firm, irregular chunks sourced from China's loess plateau are baked, developing a deeper, toastier character layered over the familiar damp-topsoil, petrichor foundation. It keeps the classic loess family's soft, powdery, medium-crunch melt, with only minimal grit throughout, while the baking process adds a warmer roasted note and a slightly deeper tone to the clay's colour than the raw Original Loess.
The Crunch Profile
Texture: Powdery, fine-grained and slightly chalky, with minimal to no grit; medium crunch that melts effortlessly into a smooth, creamy finish — the same base texture as Original Loess
Flavour: Raw topsoil, damp earth and petrichor as the underlying base, layered with a deeper, toastier roasted note from baking — a richer, more toasted take on the classic loess flavour
Crunch factor: Medium — the same crunch level as Original Loess, with a deeper roasted note layered over the classic loess base
Colour: Warm amber-brown to deep tan — a slightly deeper, warmer tone than Original Loess's yellowish-brown to beige
Aroma: Toasted, roasted loess aroma layered over the classic damp-topsoil, petrichor base
Hydration: Softens into a smooth, creamy paste, with the roasted note remaining present alongside an amplified damp-earth aroma
