"A regional lucky dip packed with crunchy chunks, crumbly treats, earthy powders and whatever else your box decides to throw at you."

Product Overview

Love a surprise? Mystery Mix Ups by Region are Earthy Crunch UK’s crunchy lucky dip, packed with a constantly changing selection of natural clays, chalks, treats, chunks, crumbs and powders from a specific part of the world.

Each kraft box is hand-packed from current Earthy Crunch UK stock, making every Mystery Mix Up genuinely unique. Rather than receiving a predetermined selection, you get to discover your box piece by piece, with a mixture of textures, shapes, colours and earthy flavour profiles chosen around your selected region.

Think of it as a little geological lucky dip. You know roughly where your clays have come from, but not exactly what you're going to find inside.

The photographs show examples of the types of products, textures and pieces that may appear in each regional mix. They are examples only, not a guaranteed contents list. The exact combination changes as stock changes, which means your box may contain something completely different from the one pictured.

Unlike our colour-based Mystery Mix Ups, these boxes are organised around geographical origin. Each regional selection gives you the opportunity to explore the different characteristics associated with clays and chalks from that part of the world, from dense mineral crunches and firm clay chunks to soft crumbs, powders and more delicate pieces.

Choose your region

Each Mystery Mix Up focuses on one region. Contents vary from box to box, but here's an idea of what you might discover.

🇮🇳 India

Our Indian Mystery Mix Ups can contain a broad selection of traditional and contemporary Indian clay favourites, including Nakumatts, Khadi, Terracotta, red clays, Mix Hex pieces, clay biscuits, cracker balls, chalks, crumbs and earthy powders.

Indian clays can range from firm and densely crunchy to soft, crumbly and powdery, with earthy profiles that may lean towards dry soil, terracotta, minerals, cement and deeper roasted-earth notes.

Because India has such a huge variety of regional clays and traditional earth materials, an Indian Mystery Mix Up can be particularly varied in both texture and appearance.

🌍 Africa

African Mystery Mix Ups bring together a changing selection of favourites including Ulo, Nzu, Eko, African chalks, clay chunks, crumbly pieces, powders and traditional earthy treats from across the continent.

Expect plenty of natural variation, with pieces ranging from hard and crunchy through to soft, chalky or highly crumbly textures. Depending on the contents, flavour and aroma profiles may include clean mineral chalk, dry earth, damp soil, dusty minerals and stronger roasted or earthy notes.

The African selection is intentionally broad, reflecting the variety of materials and regional styles represented within our collection.

🇺🇸 America

The American selection can include Montana clays, American chalks, mineral-rich earths, crunchy chunks, powders and other regional favourites.

Textures can vary considerably, from dense mineral pieces with a pronounced crunch to softer chalks and fine earthy powders. Flavour profiles may lean towards clean mineral, dry earth, stone, chalk and deeper natural clay notes.

It's a good choice if you enjoy discovering less predictable textures rather than sticking to one particular style of clay.

🇲🇽 Mexico

Mexican Mystery Mix Ups feature a changing selection of Mexican Terracotta, Barro, Kaolin, clay pot pieces, earthy crumbs, powders and other traditional Mexican clays.

These can range from creamy and smooth mineral textures through to firm terracotta pieces, dry crumbs and more robust earthy clays. Depending on the mix, you may encounter notes of fired earth, damp soil, clean kaolin, minerals and classic terracotta.

Mexican mixes are particularly fun if you like a combination of clay textures rather than a box where everything behaves exactly the same.

Texture & sensory experience

The whole point of a Mystery Mix Up is variety.

Rather than receiving several identical pieces, each box contains a mixture of crunchy, crumbly, powdery, dense and smooth textures. Some pieces may snap cleanly, others may fracture into crumbs, while softer materials can break down into a fine, dusty texture.

The sensory experience will depend entirely on the contents of your individual box.

You may encounter:

  • Firm, dense pieces with a satisfying crack or crunch
  • Crumbly clays that fracture into smaller earthy pieces
  • Soft chalks with a smoother, powdery breakdown
  • Fine powders with a dry mineral texture
  • Terracotta-rich pieces with a distinctly fired-earth character
  • Layered or mixed textures where different materials behave differently within the same box

Flavour and aroma profiles are equally varied. Depending on your region and individual selection, you may encounter creamy mineral chalk, dry earth, fresh soil after rain, damp basement, terracotta, smoky clay, petrol-like notes, cementy minerals and deeper roasted-earth characteristics.

There is no single Mystery Mix Up flavour profile. That's rather the point.

Crunch factor

Variable: 1–5

Because each box contains different materials, crunch intensity varies from soft and crumbly through to very hard and densely crunchy.

One piece might give you a gentle crumble while the next produces a much louder, harder crack. If you're buying a Mystery Mix Up specifically for maximum crunch, individual products with a listed crunch factor are a better choice.

ASMR experience

ASMR level: Variable

The mixture of different materials makes these particularly interesting for sensory and ASMR use. Harder pieces can produce sharp cracks and dense snaps, while softer clays and chalks create quieter crumbles, dusty fractures and powdery breakdowns.

The unpredictability is part of the fun. You don't necessarily know what sound the next piece will make until you pick it up.

Why are Mystery Mix Ups discounted?

Mystery Mix Ups are priced at a discounted rate because they make use of perfectly good material that doesn't always make sense to sell as a standard full-sized product.

Boxes may contain:

  • Smaller pieces from larger products
  • Broken clay treats
  • Crumbled or fractured pieces
  • Loose crumbs
  • Partial pieces
  • Fine powders
  • Assorted leftover portions from current batches

This does not mean the stock is old or unwanted.

Everything included comes from fresh, current stock. The lower price simply reflects the fact that you are receiving assorted pieces rather than complete, full-sized products in their original presentation.

In other words, you're paying less because the pieces aren't necessarily Instagram-perfect. The clay itself hasn't suddenly developed an expiry date because it broke in half.

If you'd rather receive products in their original shapes and sizes, we recommend browsing the main catalogue and purchasing individual items instead.

What will I receive?

That's the mystery.

Every box contains a selection from the region you choose, but the exact number of pieces, shapes, products and textures will vary.

One box might contain several larger chunks alongside crumbs and powders, while another might contain lots of smaller treats and broken pieces. There is no fixed number of products per box and no guaranteed individual item.

The only guarantee is the regional theme and the total packed weight.

Natural variation & breakage

Natural clay and chalk materials are inherently variable. Differences in colour, density, moisture, shape, size, hardness and texture are completely normal.

Because Mystery Mix Ups intentionally contain smaller and broken pieces, some additional crumbling may occur during packing, handling or transit. A little loose powder or a few extra crumbs are therefore part of the nature of this product rather than a fault.

Important information

  • Every Mystery Mix Up is unique. No two boxes are guaranteed to contain the same selection.
  • Photos are examples only. They show the general style, variety and regional theme rather than exact contents.
  • Contents change regularly according to current stock and available pieces.
  • There is no fixed number of pieces per box.
  • Smaller pieces, crumbs and powders are intentionally included.
  • Additional breakage or crumbling may occur during handling and transit.
  • If you want specific products, shapes or textures, please purchase individual products from the main catalogue instead.
