Montana Midnight (formerly known as Montana Coal) is a rare, hand-foraged edible clay collected from black shale and clay shale formations in Montana by Taste Montana. It gets its name from its striking coal-like appearance — deep black colour, angular shards, dense matte texture — though it is genuinely a mineral clay, not coal or charcoal. Each shard snaps cleanly into satisfying shards without dust, grit or stickiness, and the flavour is bright and mineral-forward: a slightly sour, zingy note finishing with a zesty, lemon-like lift.

Broken items are not eligible for refunds, as the flavour and enjoyment remain the same, even if the item arrives in pieces. Each parcel includes a wooden spoon to help you enjoy crumbs or powder just as easily.

Due to the edible and handmade nature of our products, we do not accept returns or offer refunds, unless:

- missing items.
