Details

Yellowstone by Taste Montana is a rare, hand-foraged edible clay sourced from the rugged terrains of Montana, USA. Collected by Samantha Hokulani herself, this clay captures the earthy essence of Yellowstone’s soil — soft yet snappy, with a creamy sand-like texture that gives way to a medium crunch. Each bite delivers a grounding, muddy topsoil earthiness with subtle tones of petrichor and the faint aroma of fresh, damp soil after rain. Some pieces surprise with a whisper of gas or oil undertones, true to the natural geology of its origin. This is a genuine, wild-harvested clay — rustic, authentic, and fleetingly fresh.

Size: Varies naturally, medium chunks

Weight: 100g per tub

Shape: Irregular, hand-broken pieces

Colour: Mustard yellow tone

Texture: Soft, slightly sandy, creamy, non-gritty

Crunch Factor: 4 (medium)

Taste Profile: Earthy, muddy, fresh soil, subtle petrol hints, creamy finish

Ingredients: 100% natural yellow stone clay

Country of Origin: United States (Montana)

Vendor: Taste Montana

Traditional Clay Origins: Inspired by the raw, mineral-rich earths surrounding Yellowstone National Park, long regarded for their purifying and grounding qualities

Note: To preserve its smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture, keep slightly damp in an airtight container. If it dries, a few drops of water will restore its natural moisture. Comes in a reusable plastic container for freshness — I wanted to stay true to Earthy Crunch UK’s eco-friendly promise of no single-use plastics but this is a product best kept damp so I always recommend keeping it in a plastic container

Availability: A rare and limited find, never before stocked in the UK — best enjoyed fresh while supplies last.

Materials + Care

Storage Tips

To keep your clays and treats fresh, crunchy, and full of flavour, always store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from moisture, humidity, and strong odours. Exposure to air or dampness can alter both texture and taste.

We highly recommend using our stash boxes, available on the website — designed specifically to protect and organise your clay collection with ease.

Handling Guidelines

  • clean, dry hands

Fragility Disclaimer

All clay treats and terracotta pot products are handmade and naturally fragile, making them susceptible to breakage during delivery.

While we take great care in packing each item securely, minor cracks, chips, or crumbled pieces may occur. This is a natural part of working with handcrafted clays and does not affect taste or enjoyment.
